Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I book my charter?
A: At this time, all final charter bookings must be made by phone at (727) 784-0098 or (727) 560-4796. Charter availability inquiries, however, can be sent using our Charter Inquiry form or by email. For bookings by email please include contact information, charter type and preferred dates and times. When sending inquiries, DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER! See the next question for more information.
Q: How can I pay for my charter?
A: Tampa Bay Sportfishing accepts cash, check, VISA® and MasterCard®. A $50 deposit is required to reserve your charter date and the balance is due the day of departure. NOTE: DO NOT SEND YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER BY EMAIL OR ON THE CHARTER INQUIRY FORM! These are not secure methods to send sensitive information. Malicious users could potentially intercept and read your message as it crosses the Internet. Please call us if you'd like to charge the charter and we'll take the information by phone.
Q: When should I schedule my charter if I want to catch ... ?
A: Tarpon can typically be caught from April through September, and Kingfish in February, March and October through December. Of course, the dates can vary depending on weather, water temperature and other conditions. Fishing for other gamefish is generally excellent year round.
Q: What will I need to bring?
A: Captain Bob recommends that you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, clothing appropriate to the season, and food if you'd like (or the charter party can visit a local water-side restaurant).
Q: Where do charters depart?
A: Charters typically depart from a boat ramp recommended by Captain Bob depending on the type of charter and the season, but suggestions from the charter party are welcome. If you are staying locally at a location with a dock, Captain Bob can pick you up there if you'd like.
