Fishing Report

by admin on September 12, 2010

Boca Grande Tarpon fishing is over for the summer and now we’re fishing the Tampa Bay area. Boca was awesome this year but it’s great to be home in the Tampa Bay area chasing redfish, trout and the many other late summer species that are around.

The hot bite for the last several weeks has been spanish mackerel. These feisty, toothy speed demons have been everywhere. They are great fun on light tackle and poretty good table fair if eaten the same day you caught them.

The redfish bite has really turned on in the last few days and there are now several school of over slot fish numbering in the hundreds in the St. Pete area. We’ve had a few days of catching several fish over 10lbs and numerous others in the 6-9lb range.

Look for the redfish bite to keep getting better as shoorter days and rainy afternoons lead to cooler water temps.
