The weather couldn’t get any better than it has been here for the last 2 weeks. Highs near 80 degrees and light winds have made for some fantastic fishing.
The speckled sea trout bite is really hot right now. This is the time of year that we get into the bigger fish more often than not and catching upwards of 65 fish a day is not unusual. The best bite right now has been on the incoming water in the St. Joseph Sound area and they’ve been gobbling up large sardine presented weightless on 2/0 circle hooks.
The redfish haven’t caught on fire yet but we’re getting some from 20″-28″ in shallow flats near creeks and oysters. Look for the redfish bite to light up any day now and the conditions are getting to point where they shoudl be going off the hook soon.
Snook have shown up surprisingly well (considering last years bad cold winter) and we’ve landed some up to 10lbs. The creeks seem to have the most fish in them but we’ve also gotten a few out at Anclote Key.
The weather looks like it’s going to stay nice for the foreseeable future so the fishing should continue to be great. Give me a call if you’re ready for some great spring fishing action!
